YFC REUNION DEC 2011

As promised here's the update! 26.12.2011

We walked into a magnificently decorated hall, with silk drapes and
pastel shade balloons, a litle bit of gold and green and red to set
the Christmassy mood!

Thanks to all the behind the scenes ppl(Tony, Susil, Vaughan, Amy,
Christo, Tammy &  Andrew).

We began in true YFC style for special programs- at 5.30pm
Registration- and guess hooo! came in 1st...it was non- other than our
old faithful clubbers, Sal, Chandran and Cal, followed by Suri,
Shanthi and master of Ceremonies - Andrew Kana!

The MC did such a great job! Never knew he had so many jokes in his
head- he must be intelligent??/!11 hehehehe!.
I trust some of you had the opportunity to view it all online with
the live broadcast. Thikshan - any comments  and by the way happy
birthday for yesterday! Did u hear us sing for you???? Some looked at
Sujeewan not getting that we were singing for you!

He started off by remembering the pioneers of YFC Nawala and all the
others who walked through the doors first of the Herat's and then the
Kana's......
Then came the numbering into groups of 5..............which was pretty
chaotic , what with 125 odd ppl walking all over the place and the
kids thinking--(i don't know what these 'ol guys are upto)Weird looks
and stares were seen all around. Anyways a few chirpy ppl like Ajit
Perera got the game going and brought the stairs down by falling ! he
was in such a hurry to get the game going.....
All and sundry got going with the game ....first we had to introduce
ourselves within the groups and describe ourselves with a adjective-
Vijay Lekamge couldn't get it he wanted to name himself ugly Vijay!
then all the kids in the gp .said NO it has to start with the letter
yr name starts with...and so it went on someone said - Amazing Angie,
sweet Suhasha, Naughty Nadeesha, Awesome Austen, Caring Caltec.......
What connection it had with bursting your opponents balloon...you have
to ask the MC!
Then came paper dancing, when the music stopped a gp of about 10-14
had to stand on a 4*2 paper! Impossible task!  So there were ppl
hugging each other and standing on their toes so as to be in while the
judges walked around to inspect---Tony, Ajith.....and guess who
won....a gp with 11- I am sure there was no winner!

We settled down to having some thirst quenchers and to some singing
lead by Vaughan, Ajit, accompanied by Lenny on rhythm and Kumu on key
boards, Christo on Drums....Love songs they were and from slow to fast
ones and then Vaughan blamed somebody and switched to some more songs
which were written by him!(When I live just for myself..-love is the
greatest thing!)They are great songs so no one complained. Tony made
sure to mention to the audience that this were written and composed by
our very own maestro Vaughan Herat!

Then came a few more appreciations and anecdotes from yesteryear......
Something about Tony preaching on Leviticus and George Verwer;'
Hunger for reality!......We opened it to the audience but the very shy
(No!) people never came up....!

followed by more music and a little slide show..pics. of the very young
looking Past YFC-ers...hilarious the very stick like Pelham -Size 4,
then and now...a size 15 Randy and now No size! Afro hair do's of
Susil, Roshan....and Frank and Dalrene standing side by side even in
those day(which was taboo-club director Frank-Atrocious behaviour!

And finally the message- Tony i didn't get to concentrate on yr
start...i had to go out to hush the teenagers who took liberty posing
for pics all thro the program.....saying we know we know we are
wired.....!!(now what's that?0)
I think i will leave someone else to comment on this part- but in
Andrew' s(MC) it was a most amazing talk with power point helping Tony
to deliver a really clear message! Thank God, this would have reached
all those who hadnt made a decision ...is this the truth or not -What
is the ultimate  truth- Are you willing that Christ has the words of
Ultimate Truth!

I was blessed to be aprt of this......Thanks to Susil ....he made a
dream of his come true for all of us - of course he started out with
a modest 25 ppl.....and we had 130 I think!
It was nearing the end and we thought it would be best time  to
felicitate the Kanaganayagam's for their patient endurance over the
years as Club Parents...
We invited them to come up front...they were dumbstruck and Susil who
wanted to make this presentation himself  told us that there were
tears in Uncle's eyes....A plaque with a verse specially composed by
Romaine and approve by all of us was beautifully engraved on a Bronze
and wood plaque...perhaps someone will ahve apic of it!

After a round of applause we broke up for dinner in avery orderly
manner(which is very unlike us!)
The dinner was scrumptious- Thanks to Christo Theogorajah's great
culinary skills and behind the scenes, dedicated work by Vaughan, Amy,
Christo Prins and  Tammy Prins..........................This is one
program that will not be forgotten for a long time and guess what we
had one new comer - Upul Bandara , invited by Rajiv Wanigasekere of
Nawala Club! That top's teh YFC spirit , doesn't it????
hurrah!

Hopefully all of you lovely ppl will attach the pics you clicked when
you hit the reply button and don't forget to send it to ppl not on
this list!
