Something from the past.. a review, reposted

Nothing was structured...Just like Vaughan......

I heard later from a close friend -
(Hana)- of the bride that this was her dream..to marry on the beach
with moonlight and stars, wearing blue jeans and boots. (Both were in blue jeans and white shirts...).

Vaughan had the courage to go against the grain and add to her happiness.
He organized the music and food was great...a barbecue menu...and the location too
(the wedding was at Golden Mile, Mt. Lavinia) ( Food was carefully chosen by her- the bride confirmed)

There was a huge cake in white (which she hadn't wanted but..)decorated with white and a tinge of pink roses.
.(..Ribbon cake yummy!)
Amy and Vaughan cut the cake first while all the guests were watching, standing all over the place due to the sudden shower
we experienced that night...
They fed each other as usual....and then somebody announced that we should help ourselves..there was plenty
to go around the crowd of almost a100 guests.
Vaughan said that in awhile there will be a ceremony and  for now..to mingle till it was announced.
The Groom went around the room introducing the bride to the guests, while the guests sipped their juice.

The ceremony was finally announced ...we all came downstairs and gathered in the hall in the middle of
all the  sound equipment.

I stood in the middle of it with Sharlene and a new friend Marianne Kao.
We witnessed a really hilarious exchange of vows.
Karin added colour to it with her humor.
She brought out the importance of the ceremony in simple terms not forgetting the sanctity of it.
She read the vows out and each of them repeated it..
She asked for the rings which she said were hopefully in their respective pockets , the correct ones too.
Blessed them and each said their vows...Amy first and then Vaughan..and then came..
Vaughan will you take Amy as your lawful wedded husband..."Vaughan went ...what...????????????????
All the guests(friends made through the yrs ...spanning over 25 ).

When it was Amy's turn she  burst out laughing...And she apologised
corrected the statement and went onto to complete it..
Which finger should the brides ring go on..and then Vaughan ..somehow figured that out with a little nudge from us guests
Then she asked them to hold hands..then she
found out that they were holding hands right from the beginning!

She got them to kneel down and blessed them and announced that they are now man and wife..
And looking sternly at all the guests..(exaggeration ++)

Karin announced , "What God has joined together let none of you try to break...." and thus ended the ceremony ...with a long round of applause.

We also sang at the Grooms request.. a nice choice of song- Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me....Vaughan lead us...

Then it was more music just the guys jamming and the haunting voice of Mariam.... a deep soulful voice echoing thro the halls,
the evening wore on as the  beautiful babe- Sri Lankan,  continued to sing. She serenaded the crowd most of the night..Christo said this was the rhythm and reggae, dont ask me...it was slow... Christo Prins gave a performance -A jive while sporting a sarong with Tammy ofcourse!

I must say most of the guests left unexpectedly early .I think the Bridegroom was a bit disappointed.

What's with our Sri Lankan party crowd 10.30pm was
too damn early...after all they were asked to bring their dancing shoes and most of us did!
I decided to give into the appeal by the couple and stayed on....

I enjoyed the night just listening to  music and dancing with the bride and 1 other friend of her's
Vaughan sang two beautiful songs written by him....and many other of his favourites...it was lovely.

Duleep Gnanakan, vowed he had never heard more beautiful lyrics and that Sri Lanka has never produced anyone better than Vaughan..

Now go get your songs recorded Vaughan..he'll do it for you..

I just pray that finally Amy and you  have found their soul-mates...
I think so.....God Bless them...as they journey into the future God has for them... :-)
I hope you enjoyed reading thru ...just wanted you guys to have a glimpse of what you missed,
The couple will enlighten with the details.
Take care
Angie
