A mystery woven around a plot which is actually an issue in some parts of the world in real life...you sort of have to then remind yourself that  it's only a story .

It seems to portray the writer's love of mystery and intrigue which started at a very young age! In school, during the lunch interval, while everyone else was playing, it wasnt unusual to see her face covered by a book!

School holidays too were a special time..so If we wanted a recommendation of what books to read, who would borrow from whom and  which one's, she was that go to person. Thus we relied on her advice all through junior and our senior years and even after.

Something I did regularly with her was to attend the literary festivals held in Sri Lanka over the years and some other interests groups related to poetry and writing. She motivated me too to start writing in any form..and thanks to her I have. 

You could say that when life happened..all of this and more creativity poured out of her.

Our  friendship spans many decades and has continued over different stages of our lives too- as students, intern/ trainee, work/ profession, wife, mother...duties.

Her creative talent took many forms  and I have been the lucky recipient of a sample of almost all  of it. Being a medical doctor by profession and practising in  Colombo, I have benefitted  from friendly advice on medical issues( we never let her rest, really!) cooking, silk painting, tile painting, jewellery making, video making & editing and finally  culminating in her writing.

I am inclined to think she has  still more to potential to discover. 

This  isnt the end.  

I am sure her creative energies have just been kindled;  the fruits of which  we are bound to experience in the near future.
